Meet the team.

Barny Holmes FCCA
Director

Barny founded Kingscote Accountancy in 2013, having trained within a small accounting practice and gaining a wealth of experience in company tax, personal tax as well as Corporate Finance, before moving on to roles within Baker Tilly.

He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has 2 decades of experience working alongside business owners ranging from high growth start ups to multi-million pound established businesses.

This experience has shaped Kingscote into focussing on the synergies and planning between both business and personal, often working alongside financial advisors to achieve long term results.

Barny is a huge car nut and outside of the office you’ll find him tinkering in the garage when not chasing around after his young family.

Jenny Applegate
Accountant

Jenny joined Kingscote Accountancy in November 2023, coming from a larger firm where she gained experience in preparing accounts for limited companies and sole traders of all types, along with undertaking general bookkeeping and VAT returns.

She gained her Level 4 AAT in 2018 through self-study, and is both Xero and QuickBooks certified, so is in a good position to help with any queries. She has a particular interest in helping clients get the most out of their figures, whether that’s through regular management reports, or simply utilising the online software in a more effective way.

In her spare time, Jenny likes to be active outdoors, and spends most of her free time either training with her horse or mountain biking in the Welsh hills.

Terri Hynes
Bookkeeping and Payroll Manager

Terri has joined our company in 2018 with an impressive 25 years of experience in bookkeeping. She’s IBA qualified and Xero certified.

She runs payroll, VAT returns and bookkeeping for various sized companies in multiple industries.

She particularly enjoys training clients to use Xero to get the best experience.

Out of her daily work at Kingscote’s, Terri loves socialising with family and friends and takes her little Frenchie, Ralphie on walks around Bristol.

Judit Yard
Office Manager

Judit became a member of the Kingscote team in the summer of 2022.

Prior to moving to England, she’s spent over 13 years in the Middle East, working in high-pressure, customer-facing roles within the Luxury Fashion industry.

She has a Master’s Degree in Communication and Diplomacy, as well as two other diplomas in Leadership and Business Management. She started a new qualification with AAT in 2023.

Judit’s current role within the company is to liaise with our clients and various government bodies, ensuring that the highest level of customer service is offered whilst providing admin support to the team internally.

Working on multiple projects at the same time, she runs a tight ship where no deadlines are missed!

And while she may have less sunshine now in Bristol than she used to have in Dubai, Judit is very content with her other new job: being a mummy to two little boys.

“Barny and the team helped me to start my new business’s explaining all the various legislation and accounting requirements. There modular pricing structure means you only pay for what you need – Thanks again”
